United Airlines permits passengers and customers to travel with their dogs, but you must first familiarise yourself with the United Airlines pet policy. United Airlines allows pets to travel in cabins

Only small dogs, cats, household birds, and rabbits are permitted to travel inside the cabin of United Airlines aircraft for flights inside the continental United States, according to the airline’s pet travel in-cabin policy (excluding Hawaii).

Criteria for age:

To be eligible to travel, all pets must be at least 4 months old, and the pet carrier must fit entirely beneath the passenger seat. The pet carrier or cage will be treated as checked luggage. Only one pet is allowed per carrier/cage, with the exception of small birds, who can share a cage with two other small birds. If necessary, United Airlines also offers the option to purchase additional room in the carrier for a second pet.

Routes that are restricted:

Except for special support animals, pets are not permitted in the cabin of flights bound towards the United Kingdom. Pets are not allowed in the cabin on United Airlines flights to Hawaii, New Zealand, Guam, Australia, and other countries that only allow pets to travel as cargo. There are no pet travel options available in Nigeria, Dubai, or Lagos. Pets are not permitted in first or business class on Boeing 757, 747, 777, and 767 aircraft because the pet carrier will not fit beneath the seat.

Size/Dimensions Requirement for United Airlines Pet Carrier

You must acquire an appropriate carrier/cage for your pet if it is allowed to travel with you under United Airlines’ pet policy. With a leakproof base, sturdy locks, and adequate ventilation, the pet carrier must be strong and flexible. 17.5in*12in*7.5in(44cm*30cm*19cm) is the maximum size of the pet carrier that can be used. The maximum permitted dimensions for soft-sided carriers/cages are 18in*11in*11in (46cm*28cm*28cm).

Reservations for pets in United Airlines cabins

If passengers prefer to fly with their dogs, they must notify United Airlines workers ahead of time. Check-in

Emotional Support Animals on United Airlines

The trained service animals can travel with the disabled passengers in the aircraft cabin. Service animals are limited to dogs, cats, and miniature horses. If you want to travel with your emotional support animal, you must show all of the following documentation at least 48 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure: immunisation and health certificates, authorization letters signed by a mental health expert or licenced doctor.

United Airlines will no longer accept any puppy or kitten under the age of four months as an emotional support animal as of January 8, 2019. No other animal is allowed as an emotional or service support animal besides cats and dogs. Emotional or service support animals do not fall into the category of therapy animals. As a result, they are not permitted in the United Airlines cabin.

Pet Cargo on United Airlines

Pet cargo service is provided by United Airlines for those pets who are not permitted to fly in the aeroplane cabin. For pets travelling in the cargo hold, United Airlines has a specific PetSafe programme.

Routes that are restricted

The cargo pet transportation service offered by United Airlines is not available for flights to/from India, Nigeria, Dubai, Australia, or Lagos. Reservations

All pet cargo reservations will be accepted only if they are made between 5 and 30 days prior to the journey date. Check-in

Required Documents and Certificates

Drop-off and pick-up

For overseas destinations, the pick-up and drop-off locations are determined by the nearest airport, and you must obtain this information in advance by calling United Airlines. For all flights to Mexico, United Airlines has discontinued the service of allowing travellers to retrieve their pets from the baggage claim section; your pets will be moved to the cargo facility, where customs authorities will inspect them. Passengers will be responsible for all fees and expenses associated with picking up their pets. Pets should avoid flying to Mexico on weekends because customs is closed during that time.
